Johnny's Downtown was launched in response to the overwhelming success of Johnny's Bar (its founding restaurant) and the need for an upscale Italian restaurant in the heart of Cleveland. It was established in 1993 in Cleveland's Warehouse District.
The six large murals in the main dining room create a unique and surreal dining atmosphere. All dishes are created from the finest ingredients. The pastas are homemade and the sauces contain various liquors, creams and spices. Wine is also considered an important part of the dining experience; consequently, the selection is rare, diverse and extensive. Johnny's Downtown earned an Award of Excellence from the Wine Spectator in 2000 and a top 10 ranking for fine cuisine in the 2001 Zagat Survey Guide.
