It has been weighing on me the past couple of weeks to write a review about Eighty Eight Photo and I hope that if you’re currently reading this while in search of a photographer you’ll really take this to heart. My wife and I got married about 6 years ago when we didn’t know that a friend of hers had gotten into the business. We chose a photographer, maybe out of necessity due to time limits, that did an okay job. We didn’t know what we had missed out on until we gave Sammie Comandatore the job. When we had our first child we decided to give Sam and Eighty Eight Photo a try to take some first photos of our newborn. Before I even get to the photos I want to make sure I emphasize that working with Sam was and has always been a great great experience. He always makes it a main priority to make you feel like you’ve known him for years and years and there is no awkwardness like I know there sometimes can be when someone is taking pictures of you. He’s one of the nicest people you’ll ever meet who truly appreciates children, marriage, sports, pets, hard work, etc, and has the ability to hold a conversation with you that’ll make you want to go to a bar and have a drink with him. When we got some previews of the photos of our daughter, we immediately realized that not having Sam as our photographer at our wedding was a big mistake. Granted, our wedding photos aren’t bad, but by comparison there is, well, no comparison. What my wife and I love about his photos is that he makes them a real work of art. He’ll take a photo of you and somehow make it so that all of the defining attributes of the setting you’re in stand out. For me, doing this helps to put me back in that moment every time I see a picture. Looking at a photo is one thing, but being able to be put back in that moment and feel those feelings at any point in your life is a whole other story. That’s what Sam and Eighty Eight Photo do. One of my favorite things that Sam does is take a photo of you during a session when you are not even posing or expecting it. He has taken some of the best shots of my family I’ve seen when we didn’t even realize he was paying attention. It makes his photos so genuine and real, not fake and forced. To me, this is what makes him not just a photographer, but an artist. I think sometimes he even surprises himself when he’ll take a photo and want to show you the shot he took immediately because it’s just so good. He makes taking amazing photos seem effortless, but I know it’s all skill. We recently went to a wedding where a couple of our friends got married and I didn’t know until I walked into him that Sam was the photographer. I was immediately so happy for the bride and groom knowing the real gift they were going to get when they saw their photos. Please trust me when I say that you will not find a better photographer around. I think as we get older it gets harder and harder to maintain a working memory of some of the best moments in our life and if we don’t pause every once in a while, in the middle of life’s ever increasing chaos to remember the great things and count our blessings we’ll eventually take them for granted. This is why my family has Sam and Eighty Eight Photo in our lives and why you should, too.
